Gasoline and diesel fuel prices in Uzbekistan rose by an average of 1.5 times starting from today. New prices were approved by the November 14 Cabinet of Ministers Additional measures For Timely Provision of Fuel and Energy Resources Resolution. The rise was linked to higher world prices for fuel and energy resources.

The new retail price for AI-80 gasoline is now 3,800 soums per liter (a 35.7% increase), AI-91 – 4,300 soums (+ 43.3%), diesel fuel – 4,100 soums (+ 72.6%) and diesel fuel ECO brand – 4,200 soums (+ 71%).The previous price rise was over a year ago - in October 2016, when prices hiked by an average of 35%.

Deputy chief of UzNeftMahsulot (transl. Uz Petrol Product), Adhamjon Isomov yesterday said that the current fuel prices do not cover the costs, especially given the soum’s devaluation in early September.

The resolution also says that as of April 1, 2018, prices for natural gas will also rise by 12%, electricity - by 10%.
