KAMAZ intends to set up assembly of its trucks in Uzbekistan, Uzbek Deputy PM Nodir Otanyonov said yesterday at Uzbekistan-Russia business forum.

According to him, Uzbekistan and Russia achieved good results in a relatively short period of time in industrial cooperation for production of vehicles.

"Agreements have been reached with  KAMAZ on setting up of production assembly of trucks in Uzbekistan and supply of Uzbek components for assembly of vehicles on the KAMAZ head conveyor," he said.

Foreign Trade Minister Elyor Ganiev said that he expects that through this arrangement Uzbekistan will be able to produce a wide range of trucks, and we are absolutely sure that this will give impetus to the development of our trade relations, as these projects will inevitably lead to the supply of components , equipment and technologies," Ganiev said..

Kamaz is Russia’s leading producer of trucks. The company plans to sell 38,000-39,000 vehicles in 2017.

Corporate entities own 98.34% of Kamaz shares, including the Rostec state corporation with 49.9%; Cyprus-registered Avtoinvest Limited with 23.54%, held on behalf of the former owners of investment company Troika Dialog and Kamaz CEO Sergei Kogogin; Daimler AG with 15%; U.S.-based KAMAZ International Management with 4.25%; and Kamaz Financial Leasing Company with 3.72%.
