Leadership of Uzbekistan Railways held talks with the project manager of Saman Corporation Jin Kang (South Korea) Tuesday. The talks centered on the commencement of work on the preliminary feasibility study for the new Tashkent - Samarkand high-speed passenger railway project, Uzbekistan Railways said in a statement.
Uzbekistan Railways added that the project, initiated by the president, is aimed at modernizing Uzbekistan’s transport system. The new highway will significantly reduce travel time between two major cities, and improve the service.
The parties pointed to the importance of this initiative in improving interprovincial communications, increasing passenger traffic, and increasing the number of high-speed trains.
The negotiations resulted in a decision to form a working group to expedite the process of preparing the project feasibility study.
