The Statistics Agency unveiled information on Uzbekistan international trade in January-June 2024. Reportedly, the country's foreign trade turnover reached 31.8 billion dollars. The exports stood at 13 billion dollars, while the imports reached 18.8 billion dollars. Compared to the same period last year, the export increased by 5.5%, and the imports increased by 10.6%, with the trade deficit at 5.8 billion dollars.

Although China has kept its position as Uzbekistan's largest trading partner, Russia's share has increased. During the reporting period, the trade volume with China reached 5.9 billion dollars, and with Russia - 5.7 billion dollars. This is 18.5 and 18.1 percent of the total trade of the country, respectively. Also, a significant part of the trade was made with Kazakhstan (6%), Turkey (4.5%) and South Korea (3.4%). 

Top-10 countries in Uzbekistan’s international trade in the first half of 2024: 

China - 5.89 billion dollars;

Russia - 5.75 billion dollars;

Kazakhstan - 1.91 billion dollars;

Turkey - 1.43 billion dollars;

Korea - 1.06 billion dollars;

Turkmenistan - 614 million dollars;

France - 563 million dollars;

Germany - 506 million dollars;

USA - 463 million dollars;

Afghanistan - 461 million dollars.

It is noteworthy that in January-June, compared to the same period of the previous year, the volume of exports to the following countries increased significantly: Russia (from $1.3 billion to $1.73 billion), France (from $196 million to $385 million), Afghanistan (from $368 million from USD to USD 448 million), to the USA (from USD 78 million to USD 110 million). Trade with all Central Asian countries has decreased: 

Kazakhstan (from 701 million dollars to 620 million dollars);

Kyrgyzstan (from $351 million to $270 million);

Tajikistan (from $285 million to $240 million);

Turkmenistan (from $86 million to $60 million).

Also, the export volume to China decreased from 1.06 billion dollars to 994 million dollars. For comparison, in the corresponding period of 2022, goods worth of 1.25 billion dollars were exported to China (994 million dollars in the corresponding period of this year), while goods worth 3.28 billion dollars were imported (4.9 billion dollars this year). In two years, exports decreased by 25.7%, while imports increased by 49.3%.
