President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today took part in the inaugural ceremony of Second Phase of Development of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Comlex Project, UzA reports.
In March Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the of Almalyk MMC Development Program until 2030, which foresees an increase in copper production by 1.4 times and precious metals by 33%.
The project provides for moving one railway line, laying two new railway lines and several roads. A 1,4 km tunnel and a 3.1 km long conveyor will be built, and erection of production, transport, power and other infrastructure facilities. It is expected to build a new copper-concentrating complex, plants for copper electrolysis, production of sulfuric acid and other facilities. The produce will mainly be exported.
The project is expected to reach full capacity in 2028, with more than 10 thousand jobs to be created. Nine multi-storey houses for 400 families, a pre-school and two dormitories for 240 places will be built in 2017-2021.
"The subsoil of our country are rich in natural resources, but we do not use them effectively," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the ceremony. - We haven’t paid enough attention to the development of geological exploration works. Now we will focus on improving this industry. "
The Head of state pointed to the need to hiring highly qualified personnel. Considering that the majority of those working in this industry today are young people, the President proposed to name the new mine Yoshlik (Youth).
