During his address at the session of the 2nd Tashkent Investmnet Forum, Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that important steps had been taken to liberalize Uzbekistan's international trade. In particular, customs duties have been abolished on over 7,000 items of raw materials and goods needed by investors.

A simplified procedure for registration in the customs territory has been introduced, he said.

In order to upgrade its international trade and boost competitivity, as well as enter new markets, Uzbekistan has accelerated work on joining the World Trade Organization, Mirziyoyev added.

“I would like to separately emphasize that the requirements of the World Trade Organization are fully compatible with the spirit of our reforms, and we are seeking hard to become the member of this prestigious organization as soon as possible,” the president said.

Negotiations with member countries and harmonization of national legislation with the rules of the World Trade Organization are now in full swing, he noted.
