President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed decree on Thursday exempting a number of building materials imported into Uzbekistan from customs duties until January 1, 2025, the Ministry of Justice said.

The zero rate will be applied to the import of cement (previously the rate was 30%), chipboard (10%), plywood (10%), formwork for concreting (15%), energy-saving basalt coatings (10%) and glass (10%). For timber, it was 0% even before that.

List of building materials and raw materials, the import of which shall be subject to zero customs duty rate until January 1, 2025

  1. Portland cement, aluminous cement, slag cement, supersulphate cement and similar hydraulic cements, whether or not colored, whether or not in the form of clinkers
  2. Timber
  3. Chipboards
  4. Plywood, veneered panels and similar laminated wood
  5. Formwork for concreting
  6. Energy-saving basalt coatings
  7. Thermal polished glass and ground or polished glass

Earlier, the president said that this measure was aimed at reducing the cost of housing construction. According to him, the extension of the customs duty waiver on high-grade cement for another year (the exemption was first introduced in 2021) will reduce the cost of housing construction by 5%.
