Deputy PM/Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov elaborated on how much gold had been produced in Uzbekistan over the past five years.
According to him, over the past 5 years, gold production in Uzbekistan ha increased from an annual 87 tons to 105 tons.
“This year, our gross domestic product is expected to reach $2,200 per capita. The head of state set the goal to increase the gross domestic product to $100 billion in 2026. Judging by today's economic figures, we can reach this level by the end of 2025.
Gold production has increased from 87 tons to 105 tons, copper production has increased from 110,000 tons to 148,000 tons over the past 5 years,” he said, speaking at a regular meeting of the Legislative Chamber.
Earlier Forbes reported that in 2020 Uzbekistan produced 101.6 tons of gold, an increase compared to 2019 (94.6 tons of gold).
In December 2021, the State Statistics Committee reported that the export of non-monetary gold of Uzbekistan in January-November 2021 topped $4.1 billion.
