President of Uzbekistan on May 26, 2017 issued the On Measures to Improve Price Formation For Products Manufactured by GM Uzbekistan Decree which provides for that from June 1, 2017 in local market GM Uzbekistan will sell its cars only for the national currency - UZS.
In addition, the decree is aimed at “reducing import of parts, cost reduction through further localization of components and expanding interindustry cooperation to increase production locally of raw materials that are necessary for development of the Uzbek automotive industry”.
The company will increase exports through finding new markets and increasing the models range. GM Uzbekistan is also planning to increase output through attracting investments.
