On February 1, 2017, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the chairwoman of the US-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce, Carolyn Lamm, UzA reported.

The Head of state and the chairwoman discussed the extension of long-term and full-scale cooperation in trade, economic, investment, technology, innovation and education.

The sides considered promising projects in agriculture, electrotechnical, pharmaceutical and other areas through drawing best practices, direct investments and know-how of America's leading companies and organizations.

The sides discussed the ways to create new cooperation mechanisms aimed at fostering bilateral relations, especially in the economic sphere.

Carolyn Lamm expressed gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and support to the development of partnerships between the businesses of the two countries, as well as for the created opportunities for US companies in the Uzbek market.

In recognition of the President’s merits, Carolyn Lamm, on behalf of the leading US companies - members of the Chamber, handed over to Shavkat Mirziyoyev a commemorative award "for successful leadership, implementation of reforms for the country's prosperity and stimulating foreign investment".

Carolyn Lamm also confirmed the willingness of the US-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce to actively participate in the implementation of joint programs and projects with Uzbekistan.

In Uzbekistan, there are 164 enterprises with American capital and the US investment in the Uzbek economy have now surpassed $ 1 billion. In 2016, the bilateral trade reached  $ 454 million, a 70% increased to the previous year.
