The FIFA referee Ravshan Irmatov has been elected the vice-president of the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) to replace Umid Akhmadjonov who resigned from his post, UFA said.

According to Akhmadjonov, he decided to resign due to his busy schedule and numerous foreign trips in his role as the vice-president at the Olympic Council of Asia.

“I think that we have done a great job for the development of Uzbek football,” the fruits of our work will take to reveal themselves", he said.

Umid Akhmadjonov worked as the first vice-president since January 2018. In early March, he was concurrently handed the vice-president of the Olympic Council of Asia job.

The Director General of the Professional Football League of Uzbekistan (PFL) Omon Gafurov also resigned. He had been in charge of the PFL since October 2017.

According to UFA, he apologized for the drawbacks and wished good luck to the new leadership.

Earlier, the first deputy chairman of the Boxing Federation Sherzod Tashmatov and the Minister of the Interior Pulat Bobojonov also resigned from the UFA deputy presidents jobs.
