President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today visited the Nuclear Physics Institute under the Academy of Sciences, the presidential press service repported.
As reported earlier, a branch of the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute in Tashkent will be opened in Uzbekistan. The university will be located in the Institute of Nuclear Physics.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the projects, pointed to the need to build the campus and laboratories in line with international standards, equipping them with the latest technologies.
The Institute of Nuclear Physics is located in the village of Ulugbek. The head of state instructed to develop a master plan for the village.
"The village should become a scientific town. In the near future we will move here the other research institutes. We will provide all facilities for science and research people," he said.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev yesterday signed a Measures to Develop Nuclear Power in Uzbekistan Decree creating UzAtom, the Uzbek Agency for Nuclear Energy under the Cabinet of Ministers. The Use of Atomic Energy For Peaceful Purposes bill, the draft Uzbekistan's Nuclear Energy Development Concept for 2019-2029, the portfolio of investment projects for development of nuclear energy in Uzbekistan and the draft Uzbekistan's Nuclear Energy Development Program for 2019-2029 are expected to be drafted by the year-end.
