Due to the enhancing of the Business Ombudsman’s authority in terms of protection of the rights of businesses, the plenary session of the Senate reviewed the Amendments to Articles 245 and 2458 of the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility."

The amendments are aimed at protecting the right for private property and preventing interference by officials in relations related to real estate.

In his address to the parliament, the President of Uzbekistan on December 29, 2020 proposed to grant the Business ombudsman the authority to bring officials of state bodies to administrative responsibility for violating the rights of businesses.

In order to eliminate these problems related to the protection of private property, it is envisaged to improve legislation, in particular, the Code of Administrative Responsibility establishes that the Business Ombudsman is entitled to consider cases on some administrative offenses relating to cases of violation of interests entrepreneurs.

The amendments will serve to ensure the inviolability of private property, freedom of doing business, and further improve institutional mechanisms to strengthen the prevention of crime by officials.
