In a series of sting operations conducted by the State Security Service (DXX) and law enforcement agencies, two community police inspectors operating in the Samarkand and Namangan provinces were arrested for corruption.

According to officials, a community police inspector with the Samarkand City Police Department demanded $7,000 from a former police officer, claiming he could leverage well-placed connections to help get the individual reinstated into the force. The inspector was caught red-handed with the cash during the handoff.

Separately, a community police inspector from the Chust District Police Department in the Namangan province extorted $2,000 from a citizen, claiming he had shelved a formal complaint filed against them. Having already pocketed an initial $700, the inspector was demanding the remaining $1,300, plus an additional $2,000 in exchange for turning a blind eye to future illegal livestock smuggling across the state border.

The inspector was apprehended while accepting the latest installment during a joint operation executed by the DXX, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Interior Ministry’s Internal Security Directorate.

Criminal cases have been initiated under relevant sections of the criminal code for both incidents, and active investigations are underway.

Authorities urge the public to report any encounters with corruption or other violations of the law to the appropriate law enforcement agencies.
