The State Security Service (DXX) has intervened to halt an illegal bribery scheme involving a police investigator and a defense attorney in the Namangan province.

Reportedly, an investigator within the Namangan Province Police Department demanded a $40,000 bribe from the father of a Chust district resident born in 2006. In exchange for the cash, the investigator promised to manipulate the active criminal case in the young suspect's favor and ultimately dismiss it. To shield himself, the investigator attempted to collect the illicit funds through an intermediary attorney who had no official involvement in the legal case.

During a targeted sting operation conducted by DXX officers in the Chust district, the attorney was caught red-handed with incriminating physical evidence while accepting the $40,000 from the suspect’s father. Authorities immediately extended the operation, arresting the investigator as he was receiving his $30,000 cut from the middleman attorney.

Following the bust, a criminal case was initiated against the investigator under Article 210 of the Criminal Code (Taking a Bribe) and against the attorney under Article 212 (Intermediary in Bribery). Both individuals have been remanded in custody as active investigative proceedings continue.
