The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today addressed the Gabala Turkic Summit, his spokesman Sherzod Asadov said. At the beginning of his address, he underscored that at the recent session of the UN General Assembly, "the speeches and approaches of world leaders once again demonstrated the lack of a unified position on the architecture of politics and security in the modern world."
"It is big time that we profoundly reform the global governance system and enhance the role of the UN and its Security Council. Enhancing cooperation to fostering the role and voice of developing countries is an important goal," the head of state said.
"The world's most pressing problems, the escalating conflicts and wars on the Eurasian continent with no end in sight, undoubtedly have a negative impact on our countries. We are all seriously concerned about the tragedy in the Gaza Strip, the situation surrounding Ukraine, the Iranian nuclear program, and stability in Afghanistan," Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.
He also welcomed "the aspirations and new plans of the world's superpowers to create a just world order, ensure mutual trust and security."
Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward a number of initiatives "aimed at strengthening unity and enhancing the role of the Turkic world in global politics, economics, and humanitarian affairs," the statement underscored.
In particular, he initiated the first joint meeting of the foreign ministers and heads of special services of the Turkic countries in Samarkand to coordinate approaches to regional and global security issues.
Furthermore, the president supported the swift adoption of a Strategic Partnership, Eternal Friendship, and Brotherhood Treaty and proposed the development of a Turkic States Development Strategy 2030.
He also advocated the creation of a Permanent Council of Turkic States on Economic Partnership, with a project office located in Tashkent.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev's other initiatives include creating a space for new economic opportunities within the OTS countries of the Central Asian region, including the Industrial Alliance of Turkic States, the Turkic Green Corridors system, and the Green Transformation consortium.
He proposed creating an Expert Group on Organic Agriculture and promoting a unified brand for Turkic organic products on the global market.
The head of state also proposed expanding the Turkic Investment Fund and adopting a cooperation program with international and national financial institutions.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev supported the development of the Middle Corridor and its integration with the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the Trans-Afghan Corridor projects, emphasizing the importance of digitalizing customs procedures and optimizing tariffs.
The leader of Uzbekistan proposed adopting a AI and Creative Economy Roadmap and holding an international exhibition of the Turkic world in Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek leader also proposed adopting an Action Plan to Combat Extremist and Radical Ideology and an initiative for environmental education for youth. "Along with this, we will continue our close dialogue aimed at combating all manifestations of Islamophobia," the president stated.
Furthermore, at the summit, Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the opening of the International University of Turkic States in Uzbekistan, which is expected to become a platform for joint research and innovation.
