Several Uzbek private airlines will get permits to fly to South Korea, the press service of the Ministry of Transport said. A delegation of the Ministry of Transport, accompanied by officials of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Seoul, held talks with the Korean Aviation Authority.

The last time the aviation authorities of the countries held consultations was in 2018. Since then, 10 weekly flights have been operated between the two countries for airlines of each side. However, only two airlines from the two countries have received the right to operate flights.

During the talks, the parties considered the lifting of restriction on the number of designated airlines, granting them the appropriate permits to fly, increasing the number of flights between the countries and expanding the geography of flights. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the aviation authorities of Uzbekistan and South Korea.

At the meeting, it was announced that flights between the two countries will be able to be carried out not only by Uzbekistan Airways and Qanot Sharq, but also by other airlines stationed in Uzbekistan - My Freighter and Air Samarkand.

In June, Qanot Sharq launched direct twice-a-week Tashkent to Seoul flights. Since March 1 of this year, the South Korean airline Korean Air has stopped Seoul to Tashkent flights due to reported poor sales.
