Nishan district criminal court in Kashkadarya province on October 4 sentenced a man who had illegally used drinking water for 13 years, Uzsuvtaminot's press service reported.
Resident of Balkhiyak village, having founded a farm in 2010, illegally connected to the Talimarzhan-Mubarak main pipeline and irrigated his crops with drinking water.
During a raid conducted by officials of Kashkadaryў Suv Taminoti enterprise, his wrongdoing was exposed. The damage caused is estimated at 282.7 million soums, or US$ 23 thousand.
The court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to 3 years in prison. He must also compensate for damages of 282.7 million soums.
