TikTok PTE LTD (Singapore) registered in Uzbekistan as a VAT payer on October 5, according to data from the Tax Committee. This is the 55th foreign company to register for tax purposes in the country.

Now the payment for the service will include VAT of 12%.

It should be noted that since July 2021, the social network TikTok has been on the register of violators of the law “On Personal Data,” which requires the placement of servers on which personal data of citizens of Uzbekistan is processed within the country. Twitter, VKontakte and WeChat were also located there, but in August 2022 they were excluded from the list, leaving only TikTok.

In March 2022, Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held online talks with TikTok Vice President Theo Bertramo and discussed “the ways to ensure security of personal information of platform users in Uzbekistan and compliance with legal requirements” of Uzbekistan. The minister invited the company to open its representative office in the country.
