On January 9, 2025, at the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan was held a ceremony of signing grant contracts within the framework of the Japanese Government’s "Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects". H.E. Mr. Hatori Takashi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan attended and signed the agreement.

From Uzbek side, H.E. Mr. Khuayarov Asilbek, Minister of Health of Uzbekistan as well as representatives from medical institutions in Tashkent city and Bukhara province took part in the ceremony.

The following 3 projects were signed during the ceremony (the total amount is about 215,000 USD).

  1. 111,720 USD project for the Provision of Medical Equipment for Bukhara Branch of Republican Research Center of Emergency Medicine, including a set of gynecological endoscopic equipment, and a set of arthroscopic equipment.
  2. 75,840 USD project for the Provision of Medical Equipment for Republican Perinatal Center, including a set of endoscopic equipment, a surgical suction unit.
  3. 27,876 USD project for the Provision of Medical Equipment for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology Scientific Practical Medical Center, including a set of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) equipment.

Japan attaches great importance to the concept of "Human Security", which contributes to the creation of a society where everyone can live happily and with dignity. Since 1995 within the framework of the program "Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects", has been implemented in Uzbekistan in the field of health, education and agriculture. Including these newly signed projects, the number of project is more than 425 projects, with the total amount of grants exceeds 28.56 million US dollars.

Japan will continue to cooperate in improving access to high-quality medical services in Uzbekistan.
