President Mirziyoyev signed a Decree imposing export duties on 86 goods from July 1. The Decree will help bring export procedures into line with WTO rules. The above 86 items include, among others, leather raw and semi-finished products, silk raw materials, cotton yarn and knitwear.
Export duties are also being introduced for meat, wheat, rice, mineral fertilizers, polyethylene (PET) waste, and non-ferrous scrap metal. While, permission from the president or government for their export shall no longer be required.
Duties will also be levied on strategic raw materials produced domestically in order to support the local processing industry, such as:
- natural gas;
- cotton fiber and lint;
- polyethylene;
- polypropylene;
- polystyrene
- polyethylene terephthalate;
- PVC;
- copper raw materials;
- some fertilizers.
The new measures will help increase the production of goods with high added value based on local raw materials. The Customs Committee added that the move was aimed at increasing the investment attractiveness of processing enterprises.
