The Strategic Reforms Agency studied the night-time economies of the UK, Thailand, the USA, the UAE and Australia in and the prospects for further development of night-time economy in Uzbekistan.

The opportunities that should have been implemented as a first step to develop the night-time economy in Tashkent have been ignored, while limited steps have been taken to transform several streets into gastronomic streets, the report says.

In order to develop the night-time economy in Uzbekistan, the Agency has developed the following proposals:

• forming a working group aimed at developing the night-time economy and tourism from February 1, 2025;
• ensuring 24/7 activity of entertainment and recreation venues on Fridays and Saturdays and lifting restrictions on the working hours of venues operating at night;
• identify areas with tourist potential in Tashkent city and organize night activity zones in these areas;
• in each of the cities where the development of the night-time economy is planned, public transport (bus, tram, metro) will be switched to 24-hour operation;
• developing a Night-time Tashkent e-platform and facilitating getting information on night-time venues, night public transport routes, and special discount offers on this platform;
• modernizing areas designated for the development of the night-time economy, improve the street lighting system, and create additional amenities for the population and tourists.

It is planned to develop a president’s draft Measures for the further development of the night-time economy in Uzbekistan decree” and a bill that provides for reforming the procedure for developing the night-time economy and issuing licenses.
