President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Additional Measures for Swift Development of Tourism in the Republic of Uzbekistan Decree introducing 30-day visa-free regime for the citizens of another 45 countries as of February 1, 2019.
Last February, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree introducing visa-free for citizens of seven countries - Israel, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey and Japan. In March, Tajikistan was added to this list, in October - France, while Germany will be added from January 15 (thus the total number of such countries has been brought to 18).
Simplification of the visa regime and the rules of stay in Uzbekistan, along with the development of infrastructure and promotion of the tourist resulted in two-fold increase in the number of foreigners who visited the country last year - from 2.60 million in 2017 to 5.3 million in 2018, the decree noted.
Starting February 1, the list of countries eligible for Uzbekistan e-visa system is also expanding to cover 76 countries. In addition, 30-day double and multiple e-visas will be introduced as of March 15, 2019.
Additionally, new types of visas will be introduced for certain groups of foreign citizens (non-electronic) - Vatandosh, Student visa, Academic visa, Medical visa and Piligrim visa.
