The financial institutions, UzbekNeftegaz and Uzbekistan GTL project operating company on Saturday signed financial documents worth total of US$ 2.3 billion in Tashkent for the project finance of of the Uzbekistan GTL project.
The event was attended by the officials of the China Development Bank of, the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM), the Korean Trade Insurance Corporation K-SURE, Gazprombank, the Export Insurance Agency of Russia (EXIAR), Credit Suisse Bank, Japanese banks MUFG , SMBC and Mizuho, the embassies of China, Russia, and the Korea Republic, the leadership of UzbekNeftegaz , ministries and departments, the Uzbekistan Fund for Reconstruction and Development, the contractors as well as project’s consultants and the mass media.
Out of the total amount of over US$ 1 billion is provided by by the China Development Bank, over US$ 600 million by the South Korea institutions and about 700 million by the other nine lenders.
“The project in its scale is one of the largest investment projects not only in Uzbekistan, but also in the whole Central Asia. The two visits of the Uzbek President to the construction site, where he got acquainted with the progress is the evidence of its strategic importance,” said the chief of UzbekNeftegaz Bahrom Ashrafkhanov.
Construction work are ongoing at the construction site in Kashkadarya province, where more than 5,000 builders and experts, about 500 units of equipment have been engaged.
